A homeless author, a heartbroken daughter, and a theatre ghost. There's trouble in Chapel Springs. There's always someone new in Chapel Springs, someone who is either coming home or stirring up trouble.

A best-selling author's latest book is a flop. While the reviewers are happily skewering her, her racecar-driver husband walks out on her and she's evicted, because he hasn't paid the lease on their condo for the last three months. Then she discovers he also he drained their bank accounts. Homeless and broke, she and her little boy have no choice but to retreat to the house she inherited from her nana in Chapel Springs. Then, a stranger knocks on her door. One that will change the course of her life.

Howie Newlander is back in town. After the residents thwarted his plans for a Miami-style resort on Chapel Lake, he's running for mayor and stirring up the farmers by spreading rumors about diverted water and misused taxes. The Lakeside Players want to remodel the town's old theater, named for Claire's late great-aunt. Empty and boarded up for the last 40 years, the theatre is rumored to be haunted. When Newlander and Mayor Riley go head-to-head, Claire gets caught in the middle.

Claire's youngest daughter is in love with a non-believer whose daddy is Claire's nemesis, the mayor. Having him part of her family isn't in her plan. The years of heartache before her husband became a Christian should warn her daughter off this boy. So far, her daughter's heart isn't hearing the warnings.

With hearts pulled in all directions, will they find a home?

I thoroughly enjoyed the first two book in this series, and I loved this one too. This is the third book in the series, and although it can be read as a standalone I do encourage reading the first two book in the series to learn more about the folks that live in Chapel Springs. It was so much fun catching back up with Claire and Patsy and following their new escapades as well as getting to know the other wonderful characters that make their home in Chapel Springs. This author certainly knows how to pull the reader into her stories and give the reader a wonderful reading experience. This is a story with moments of laughter and moments of tears, and also a wonderful story showing God's faithfulness in meeting the needs of His children. I was given a copy of this book in return for an honest review, and this is another one from this author that I definitely recommend.

Chapel Springs might seem like the perfect escape, but your visit will change you! In this volume you will re-encounter your friends Claire and Patsy, and make some new friends. This is a lighthearted, heartwarming story of friendship and sisterhood, with an undercurrent of spiritual truth, lightlly and skillfully delivered.
Found the story to be delightful Carin in was a tragic figure her husband was a louse her two sisters treated her horribly, the other sister was kind love a town like this people who help each other and great each other like family.
This was the first book in this series that I’ve read, and I’m going to have to read more! The author’s style is a breath of fresh air, tinted with humor and lavished with realistic characters that you wish were your next-door neighbors. This lighthearted piece of fiction is really two stories in one, one more somber and dramatic than the other, but both engaging and intertwined in an artful way.

I’m really cheap and really picky about what I read, so I love finding authors whose work is good enough that I will shell out for it. )
Awesome book! I quite literally couldn't put it down, and stayed up half the night reading it. While the characters do go through some pretty bad trials, she shows how God always brings us through them working things out for our good. We also get to see God wooing someone back to. Him. Most of all, we see God's love in action in the various characters. In this book you get mystery, suspense, and romance all rolled into one. It's a good and fun read you won't want to miss.
The story was enjoyable. It follows on previous two books and I had a lot of difficulty figuring out who was who in the story. Right from the start a huge amount of names and characters were used with little explanation and it got confusing fast.

It is multiple stories in one. Carin's story is about her husband leaving her destitute, moving to Chapel Springs and finding her father and sisters after she was adopted.

Claire's story os about the fight around who will be the next mayor, the ghost in the theatre and her daughter not being involved with someone she approves.

The story is upbeat. But the character seem very black and white. You are either good or bad according to what southern religious society demands. Yes, Mel the goth with her tattoos are loved but at the same time she looks better without makeup on. (I agree by the way, the story is just very cut and dried)

It is not a romance.
Ane Mulligan has shared her wonderful little town with us once again. This time, a young lady who spent the happiest part of her childhood in Chapel Springs returns under less than perfect circumstances. The town welcomes her, but her happily ever after won't come easily. Surprises literally walk up to her front door, but heartache soon follows. Along the way, our favorite townspeople, Claire and Patsy solve a ghostly mystery and ensure a happy future for the town. Great read. Well done and entertaining.
This is my favorite Ane Mulligan book to date. It has some of my favorite things and favorite people in it. I loved that Ane sneaked David and Lauren Lawler into the narrative. I read it in one day. Carin's story really drew me in, plus there were ghosts, historical documents, more wicked Howie, and lots of delicious food and coffee. And it all comes by the grace of God. How I wish I had an old theater to explore and it makes me glad I have a sister, sorority sisters, and wonderful girlfriends. Ane's writing just lets me fall into her book as I sink into a warm lake in summer.
